Map made from a portion of the TAMU2 sonar survey in the Gulf of Mexico. Many features along the fault system in the south central and southeast part of the figure radiate from a point and often extend down the slope. These are probably hydrocarbon vent sites. "Bulls eye" features associated with many of them appear to be mud volcano mounds. Note the southeast part of the area shown where sediment flows downhill from the faults into the basin to the south.
