Quarterdeck Volume 5, Number 1, Spring 1997
1. A float at the top and an anchor at the bottom hold taut a line
supporting the sediment traps.
2. Traps at different depths
collect particles sinking rapidly through the water. The sinking particles
are difficult to collect in water bottles. Baffles at the top of the trap
keep out large organisms. We retrieve the trap after a specified period
of time and analyze the particles that accumulated in it.
