Heat transport across five polar fronts, defined by lines
along which the average temperature of the water column is 2.0&176;C, 1.6&176;C,
1.3&176;C, 1.0&176;C, and 0.7&176;C respectively. Vertical bvars show the
margin of error The amount of heat traonsported toward the pole by ocean
circulation processes corresponds closely with the amount of heat lost to
the atmosphere each year in the Antarctic region.
