A dolphin leaps through the water anlongside the R/V Gyre.

The R/V Gyre cruised on a track that systematically covered the northeast Gulf of Mexico. The black line indicates the times during which researchers watched the seas for marine mammals during all of the NEGOM cruises.

The plus signs indicate places in the northeast Gulf of Mexico where GulfCet researchers registered a dolphin or whale sighting. During all five NEGOM cruises, a total of 289 sightings were registered and 14 species were identified.
